The Gibson Girls
A response to Charles Dana Gibson's illustrations of the Gibson Girls illustrations.
Using a pattern taken from an original 1890's gown that was originally a wedding dressmade in brown striped silk, an accurate recreation has been made using techniques authentic to the era.
The fabric used is a polyester chosen for the rich colour and unusual pattern. The material has the body to hold the structure of the sleeves as well as the decorative ruff that flows over the shoulder.
Accompanying the dress are authentically made combinations (cotton undergarments) which include cotton Cluny Lace and hand worked eyelets.
